Chelsea launch 'football's first' Snapchat lens

Chelsea launch 'football's first' Snapchat lens In a time where football has never been more marketable, Chelsea have announced a ‘football first’ by teaming up with Snapchat. The club confirmed on their official website that the Blues had teamed up with the popular photo-based app to give fans a new way of showing their support for the club. The new lens allows fans to virtually paint their face blue which will include the club’s badge on one side of their face. Manchester United stole headlines over the last couple of weeks when it was announced that Paul Pogba was given his own emoji, it looks like Chelsea are following suit. Social media is playing an increasingly predominant role in the way top clubs around Europe reach their fans, with the club becoming a global brand. It can be used at Stamford Bridge, in the stands at games and also in the club shop or on a stadium tour. All fans need to do is add the club on the app.

Present stadiums . Europe. Whereas only a few months ago it appeared that Chelsea was putting all its eggs in the basket of a new stadium at the Battersea Power Station site, it now appears that the club is still actively hunting for other West-London sites. Focus of the club is a site at Earl’s Court located only a few hundred metres away from Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea this week revealed to the world what their impressive new 60,000-seater stadium on the site of Stamford Bridge will look like. As the planning process moves into the consultation phase, 160 documents and drawings were published showing every aspect of the Premier League champions' £600m new home. We guide you through all the key points about the design and what happens next as the Blues work towards realising their ambitions for a new home. Where will Chelsea 's new ground be?

Chelsea have presented their plans to redevelop Stamford Bridge to Hammersmith and Fulham Council.

The proposed rebuild to increase capacity to 60,000 was presented in model form at a hearing at Hammersmith Town Hall on Wednesday.

The meeting is intended to deliver a final verdict on planning permission, with the council having already initially recommended that the application be approved.

The Mayor of London will then have a defined period by which to endorse or not the council's permission.

Bournemouth not interested in signing Terry

Bournemouth not interested in signing Terry Bournemouth manager, Eddie Howe has confirmed the club are not looking to sign John Terry on loan. As reported by the Independent , Terry had been linked with a move to the south coast club with the central defender coming to the end of his contract at Stamford Bridge. Speaking to the media before this weekend’s fixture against Hull, Howe confirmed that despite the rumours, he isn’t interested in signing the Chelsea skipper. Terry has been unable to break into the Chelsea starting XI under Antonio Conte recently and was sent off in the FA Cup against Peterborough when he was given his chance. The Blues challenged the decision but it their attempts failed and the skipper will serve a suspension. As of yet, there have been no rumours of a new contract on the horizon for Terry. Chelsea recalled Nathan Ake from Bournemouth earlier this month and with Simon Francis suspended, the Cherries have something of a defensive crisis on their hands at the Vitality Stadium.

The issue of associating a corporate brand with a new home for Chelsea goes back to long before the present plans to build a new 60,000 capacity stadium on the existing site. Senior club sources were clear this was part of the deal for any new stadium , wherever it was to be located, as far back as the 2011 attempt to wrestle the freehold from Chelsea Pitch Owners. Now sources close to the present plans have confirmed naming rights are very much on the agenda for the planned grand opening of the new stadium in 2020.

Stamford Bridge's current capacity is 41,663, making it the ninth largest club ground in England behind Manchester United, Arsenal, West Ham, Manchester City, Liverpool, Sunderland, Newcastle United and Aston Villa.

Rather than move site and build from scratch, though, the club have decided that redeveloping Stamford Bridge is their preferred option.

The main point of discussion is likely to be the ground's proximity to transport, with the new prospective capacity of 60,000 making the distance of underground and railway lines paramount and the main challenge facing the project.

The project will also mean that the club will need to find a temporary home due to the complex nature of the build, with a lowering of the arena and excavation likely to achieve the desired capacity on the 12-acre site.
