Jennifer Hudson's new song pays homage to classic Mariah Carey video

Jennifer Hudson's new song pays homage to classic Mariah Carey video Jennifer Hudson paid homage to Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s One Sweet Day video with her new track Mr DJ. Singer and actress Jennifer is currently starring opposite Adam Sandler in Nineties-set Netflix movie Sandy Wexler, part of the actor’s four-film deal with the streaming service, as a singer discovered by talent manager Sandy Wexler (Adam) while performing at an amusement park. Jennifer also laid down a song for the movie’s soundtrack, teaming up with writer-producer Babyface and hip-hop star Mase to record Mr DJ. “I don’t think we lacked on anything, from the fashion to the videos to the style of music. We sort of paid homage to all of the major stars of that time,” Jennifer told WWD. “I was 15 in the Nineties, and a huge fan of Mase as well. To be able to go back in that time and put together an idea of what I would have been (like) as an artist in the Nineties, and then to work with some of the top artists of the Nineties - to have Mase walk in - I was really losing it.” Sandy Wexler, which Jennifer describes as “a comedic version of The Bodyguard”, hits Netflix on Friday (14Apr17), with Jane Seymour, David Spade and Terry Crews also starring. Jennifer knows the slapstick comedy might not be everybody’s idea of fun but the Oscar winner, who went home with an Academy Award for 2006’s Dreamgirls, is pleased she signed on. “I always wanted to do a comedy,” she shared. “When they called me about having me in and also (to) talk about the character I thought, ‘Oh my God, I’m in.

The blonde beauty's 2012 LP 'Holiday' wasn't released in the UK she didn't have many opportunities to perform in the country, but her latest effort, which was funded through a Kickstarter campaign, has been released worldwide.

She said: "There's been a lot of chaos in my personal life. I lost both my parents back in 2008, then I got cancer and then I got married and had a baby.

"There was a lot of things going on during my break. I was working behind the scenes doing more things for advertising and writing music for films.

"I was more faceless but that was good for me. I really learnt how to write songs for a specific product. It was a sort of growth spurt for me in song writing.

"It helped me become a better song writer but I really missed writing music for myself. It was really easy to be creative again and not for a product but for myself."

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez fine with 'J-Rod' nickname .
Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez don't mind being referred to as 'J-Rod'. The On The Floor hitmaker started dating former sportsman Alex back in March (17), with fans merging their respective nicknames - JLo and A-Rod - to create a new moniker for the couple. Their relationship is going from strength to strength, and Jennifer was asked what she made of the nickname as she attended the Billboard Latin Music Awards on Thursday night (27Apr17). "It's fine. We kind of thought that would happen" she laughed. "Because people who knew us were already (saying) it. So, you guys, it's not like you were original or anything." Alex, 41, didn't join Jennifer on the red carpet at the event, but the 47-year-old singer revealed he would be flying into Florida from Connecticut later in the evening. Regardless of his absence, Alex remains ever supportive of his girlfriend, and particularly of her upcoming Spanish-language album. "Alex loves it," she said of his thoughts on the record. "I'm so excited, you know, every time I finish something, I bring it home and I want him to hear it. "He's so supportive. He's such a supportive person and he's so lovely." Jennifer performed her new Spanish single Mirate at the awards ceremony, and received a standing ovation from her ex-husband Marc Anthony, who produced the record. And speaking about her new offering, Jennifer said she believes it's her best work to date.
