Why is this personality type so rare?

Ann C. Holm, a life coach with a degree in psychology from the University of Michigan, believes the reason is that INFJs have highly complex personalities and, though introverted, can appear as extroverts.

INFJs are empathetically sensitive so need time to recharge, and will sometimes withdraw into themselves. "This is perhaps the most confusing aspect of the enigmatic INFJ character," Holm writes.

They often have internal conflicts as different parts of their personality fight against one another. On the one hand, they like deadlines and structure, while on the other, they like new ideas and expanding options. Helping others is also a key aspect to this personality type.
