Plans to extend William and Kate 's Kensington Palace home revealed. Officials for Historic Royal Palaces have applied to build a two-storey basement beneath the Orangery to make room for William , Kate , their children and staff.

13th March 2017 - Kate , William to extend Kensington Palace . It is currently used as a restaurant for visitors to the palace grounds. The extension at the back of the historic building would provide more than 1,500 sq m of extra space over three floors.

According to The Daily Mail, more than £4.5 million of taxpayers’ money has already been spent on the royal couple's apartment at Kensington Palace, which has 22 rooms and two kitchens.

While the local Kensington and Chelsea council has restricted two-storey basements due to disruption, it will likely "make an exception" for the royals, the Daily Mail said.
