The senior advisor to the First Lady Stephanie Winston Wolkoff released a statement to CNN about her plans, which read: "As a mother and as the First Lady of this country, Mrs. Trump is committed to the preservation and continuation of the White House Gardens, specifically the First Lady's Kitchen Garden and the Rose Garden."

Melania spent time with the wife of Japanese Prime Minister, Akie Abe, at the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Florida, and spoke about the importance of gardening in both of their cultures.
